Status

File:Pistacia mutica.JPG The natural habitat has rapidly decreased. Some populations of the plant have fully disappeared (villages Bagratashen, Akhtala), other have only very small number of species. Is cut by the population for the valuable wood.

Habitat in Armenia

Met in floristic regions of Zangezur, Ijevan, Yerevan, Dareleghis, and Meghri.

Habitat and ecology

Grows in dry places, mainly in the southern rocky hill slopes, the height of 1200 – 1500 meters above sea level.

Biology and potential value

Natural reproduction is not satisfactory. Has valuable wood. Contains ethereal oils.

Measures of protection

Cut should be forbidden. Measure to assist to the natural reproduction should be developed. Two small populations are included in Khosrov Nature Reserve.
