Opening Ceremony for New School in Aparan
A ceremony attended by several high-level officials marked the opening of new Aparan School No. 3, construction of which was recently completed by the government of Armenia. The [[United States Agency for International Development]] (USAID) supported the project by installing a central heating system in the school as part of its nearly $2.8 million School Heating Rehabilitation/Construction Program.
Under the Program, USAID is rehabilitating/constructing school heating systems and lavatories to improve conditions for students at a total of 60 schools throughout the country. During the first phase of the Program, the heating systems of 20 schools were rehabilitated. The second phase, which started last fall and will be completed by September 2007, involves installing/renovating heating systems and lavatories in an additional 40 schools.
High-level officials of the U.S. government, USAID, the government of Armenia, the General Procuracy, and the Municipality of Aparan, as well as other state officials, attended the ceremony.
