Frank Pallone
Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06)
Frank Pallone Jr. is a U.S. Congressman representing the 6th district of New Jersey as a Democrat. He is also the co-chairman of the Congressional Armenian Caucus along with Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-MI).
Biography
Frank Pallone Jr. was born on October 30, 1951 in Long Branch, New Jersey where he resides to this day. Pallone attended public schools and was even awarded a scholarship to Middlbury College from which he graduated cum laude in 1973. He went on to earn his masters in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law at Tufts University, and his law degree at Rutgers in 1978. He married Sarah Hospodor in 1992 and have 3 children Rose, Celeste and Frank.
Career
Pallone secured his place in the political arena when he was elected to the Long Branch City Council in 1982. Four years later he was re-elected.
Mkhitar Gosh Medal
On June 13, 2002 Congressman Pallone was awarded the order of Mkhitar Gosh by Robert Kocharyan, President of Armenia for "outstanding contribution to the development and strengthening of the amicable relations between the United States and the Republic of Armenia". The Mkhitar Gosh Medal is awarded for notable state, public and political activities, as well as significant services in the areas of diplomacy, law and political science. The medal is named for a noted twelfth-century noted Armenian preist, writer and a codifier of the Armenian civil and canon laws.
