Everett Wheeler

EVERETT L. WHEELER (Duke University) published “From Pityus to Zeugma: The Northern Sector of the Eastern Frontier 1983-96,” in N Gudea, ed., Roman Frontier Studies 1997: Proceedings of the XVIIth International Congress of Roman Frontier Studies (Zalau [Roumania] 1999). The paper surveys major archaeological discoveries and historial interpretations published 1983-96 and relating to Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, northern Mesopotamia, and eastern Anatolia.

He organized and chaired a session on “Rome and Parthia” at the XVIIIth International Congress of Roman Frontier Studies held 1-12 September in Amman, Jordan. The session included Wheeler’s paper, “Roman Treaties with Parthia: Voelkerrecht or Power Politics?”
